Have You Heard All The Talk About The HCG Diet?

By Riley T. Simonis

The HCG diet is a low-calorie diet helped by supplemental drops. Lower calorie intake forces the body to burn stored fat for energy when the day's entire calorie intake has been used. Low calorie diets themselves force the body to burn more fat when calories run out, but the addition of the special drops helps to maintain muscle mass during this process. Negative side effects, such as fatigue or irritability, which commonly accompany low-calorie diets can be avoided with the aid of HCG drops. While on the HCG diet, the body restructures the way it usually uses stored fat and regular calorie intake. The special diet consists mainly of three stages; initial intake, training your metabolism, and the final maintenance stage.

During days one and two of the special diet, a high calorie diet is recommended during the initial use of the HCG drops. The body's fat regulation process is altered in this initial phase to help ensure that, during the lower calorie intake phase of the diet, the metabolism will burn fat. The period of low-calorie intake in the diet is helped by the initial high-calorie phase as it decreases excess hunger throughout the diet process. The body begins to burn stored fat during the second phase of the special diet in which low-calorie intake ensures that fat will be a necessary fuel source throughout the process.

The final phase of the diet, known as the maintenance stage, begins when the drops have successfully altered the body's metabolism. Calorie intake begins to increase back to normal levels, and the use of formula is no longer necessary in the maintenance phase of the special diet.

Calorie intake, however, should be slowly raised as to not disrupt the metabolism and the body's new system of burning fat. During the maintenance phase of the diet, weight should be monitored carefully to confirm that the body's restructured metabolism is preserved throughout the calorie increase.

Since the diet plan requires low calorie intake, it is recommended that the physical activity portion of the diet consist only of light exercise. As the body is currently burning stored fat because of the lower-calorie intake, heavy exercise might cause fatigue and starvation There are no known side effects of the plan and the hormones in the drops will not cause any interference with menstrual cycles. Higher calorie intakes required for nourishment during pregnancy cause the the plan to produce little to no results if used by pregnant women.
